📦 Short‑Term Radon Screening Detector
Short‑term detectors are useful in all rooms of a property before mitigation work is carried out. The individual detector results are less important on their own; however, knowing the corresponding readings across the building helps inform the mitigation design, especially in larger or more complex properties.
Our short‑term radon screening kits can be used for tests lasting 7 to 90 days, Workplace and commercial customers, please note: The results from a short-term radon test cannot be used for a radon risk assessment in a commercial environment.

📘How It Works
- Using the enclosed instructions places the detectors in the correct rooms and register the details on our website.
- After the test period (minimum 7 days), they simply:
- Seal the detectors in the provided Tracked 24 returns bag
- Enter the end date on the website
- Take it to any Post Office
- Obtain proof of postage
- Once the lab receives the detectors, your results are processed and emailed to the email address used at purchase. Normally in 2 working days, however please allow 5 working days.
🔔 Important Information
- All detectors should be placed as soon as they are received.
If immediate placement isn’t possible, the detectors may be stored in a household freezer for up to 3 months from the dispatch date. - To maintain accuracy, do not open the sealed detector pods until you are ready to position them in the building.

All short term detectors from any supplier do not fall under the scope of UKHSA validation, as UKHSA only recommend durations greater than 3-month tests.

📏 Do short term detectors give an accurate reflection of radon levels?
Short‑term radon detectors provide a quick snapshot but are not as accurate as long‑term testing. Radon levels fluctuate with weather, ventilation, and seasonal changes, so short‑term results can be higher during wet periods and lower during dry spells. A 3‑month test gives a more reliable average and is the recommended method for assessing long‑term exposure.
